DaiAwen is a certified Intimacy Professional through Intimacy Directors & Coordinators, a SAG-AFTRA accredited program. They are responsible for facilitating consent-driven environments while maintaining professional and artistic standards for scenes of simulated sex, nudity, and intimate physical contact. Achieved through being a movement director, a liaison between actors and production, a supporting artist for directors, and an advocate for actors.
DaiAwen creates beautiful moments of story-driven intimacy through communication and creative expression. They engage with and honor the director's vision of the story and work as a facilitator for that vision. They communicate openly with the performers, discussing boundaries, consent, and needs; once our safety and boundaries are respected, we can do our best work and enjoy the moment. They communicate between departments to collectively orchestrate how the scene can be achieved and collaborate with production on the protocols necessary to work efficiently and effectively.

Trans visibility is growing. We are finally seeing trans characters in the media. Characters with depth, humanity, and joy are portrayed and created by us. However, the stigma against trans bodies has deep roots, and nowhere is that more prevalent than in the topic of trans sex and intimacy. Often the sentiments around our bodies in intimacy are trauma, loss, and abnormality, while non-trans eyes devour us with curiosity, othering, and fetishization.

Representation behind the camera and in front of it is so important. We need to see our intimacy on screens and stage presented as the joyful and powerful beauty it is. This does not mean unrealistically positive but authentic and character-driven. Trans intimacy is not only an unbridled statement of love (love of self and love outside of ingrained expectations) but a counter-cultural political statement that allows us to dream and imagine a world beyond constraints and limits!
We need story-driven, relational intimacy on screen. Complex characters. Messy truths. Authentic and diverse intimacy.
I would be honoured to collaborate with you and help bring these stories to life.
